What a great party we had again, with 62 people noisily enjoying the evening.  Particular thanks to Debbie who did most of the organization, including arranging the caterers, to all the helpers, to Simon Woolf for judging the Best of Year digital image and print competitions, and to Ian for all the photos with Simon.

And the envelopes please – the results were:

Just a brief reminder for ticket-holders that our annual awards dinner starts with drinks at 7 pm tomorrow – Monday 26 November – at the Otaihanga Boating Club.

We’ve had a fantastic response for this final KCPS event of the year. There will be more than 60 people to enjoy dinner, judging of the “best of year” images by Simon Woolf, and presentation of trophies and certificates. See you there!

It looks like one of our members got to celebrate her birthday, along with Charles (it was his 64th) and Camilla yesterday at Government House in Wellington. We look forward to some royal images.

AGM on Monday

08 Thursday Nov 2012

Posted by KCPS in Reminder

≈ Comments Off on AGM on Monday

The AGM on Monday will also be a sociable occasion.

All the papers have been sent out, and the plan is to get through the formalities as quickly as possible. We’ll then have drinks and nibbles – please bring a plate to go with supplied liquid refreshments. The weather forecast isn’t the best at the moment, but hopefully that will change and we can enjoy being out on the deck. After drinks and nibbles I’ll show a short audiovisual of a selection of images from those who went on our recent field trip to Matiu/Somes Island. Here’s a teaser of Gavin getting up close and personal with a Cook Strait Giant Weta.

“Best of Year” Entries

And don’t forget to get your “Best of Year” entries in by Monday. This can be done online – head to the SALON ENTRY page and look lower down for the link to the entry form. There are no grades for this competition. You can enter just one digital image and one print. Each of these must have been entered into one of the four Salons held during the year, or be fundamentally based on it (for example, small improvements in line with judge’s comments at the original competition are acceptable). The competition will be judged by Simon Woolf who will present the results at our End of Year Function on 26 November. Tickets still available, but hurry up and get them.

Central Regional Convention

≈ Comments Off on Central Regional Convention

The convention is underway in Palmerston North, with 103 attendees from more than 20 clubs, including 4 from KCPS.

It’s been a great start with a presentation this evening of beautiful panoramic, black and white, infrared film photos from Helmut Hirler. Here’s just one example. Extraordinary. Have a look at his website.

KCPS member Alison Viskovic has an exhibition of monochrome photographs at Lindale’s Future Framing Gallery this weekend.  This is part of the Kapiti Coast Arts Trail – the annual event which features artists in their studios, artisan hubs, and displays in galleries and cafes, spread from Otaki to Paekakariki.

Alison’s exhibition of monochrome photographs is titled “An Essay on Gardening”.  It features paired images reflecting subjective and objective impressions of living with a garden.  Unmounted copies are available for immediate purchase

Check it out.
