Street Photography 1st May – Development Night

27 Thursday Apr 2017

≈ Comments Off on Street Photography 1st May – Development Night

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that our development night is this Monday the 1st of May and is on Street Photography.

It would be a good idea to bring your camera so we can help set up useful settings combinations, etc.

This will be followed by a Meetup on the 13th May in Wellington to practice what we have learnt. It just so happens that the LUX Light Festival is on that day so we should be able to get some interesting shots. To RSVP to the Meetup please click HERE

See you all Monday 🙂

Kapiti Coast Express Day

13 Monday Feb 2017

Posted by rachelstevens01 in Photo Opportunity

≈ Comments Off on Kapiti Coast Express Day

kapiti-coast-expressday-tile2

I have listed a meet up for the Kapiti Coast Express Day, lots of photo opportunities.

We will be meeting at the Te Roto Drive Entrance, Paraparaumu at 10am, Saturday the 18th February. Please RSVP here https://www.meetup.com/KCPS-Photography-Meetup-Group/events/237664059/

The Mackays to Peka Peka Expressway is nearly ready to open to traffic, so the M2PP team would like to invite you to the Kāpiti Coast ExpressDay – your chance to experience part of the Expressway before it opens to traffic later in February.

Walk or bus 5 kilometres of Expressway between Te Roto Drive in Paraparaumu, or Te Moana Road in Waikanae. Thanks to the generosity of Mana Coach Services (external link) ExpressTours will run from both sites throughout the day.

The ExpressDay route is open to pedestrians and mobility scooters/wheelchairs on one side and tour buses on the other side. People can also choose to try out 5ks of shared pathway alongside the Expressway.

Start your journey at either Te Roto Drive in Paraparaumu for fun and entertainment, or Te Moana Road in Waikanae, for education and expert speakers.

There’ll be something for all tastes at both sites, including Kāpiti food trucks.

GOLD COIN donation.

≈ Comments Off on NEW Photography Meetup Group

Good afternoon Everyone.

I’m very excited to announce the launch of our new field trip group on meetup.com

This is where we will notify members of weekend excursions throughout the year (it will also be updated on our website calendar), this group is totally informal and you are more than welcome to bring a friend along. The aim of the group is to get everyone out and about with their camera, mingle with other members and most importantly have FUN! If you have any suggestions of where you might like to go for a field trip, there is a suggestion link on the home page of meetup.com.

Very shortly you will all receive an email from me that looks like this….

Meetup Email

Please sign up if you would like to be notified of up and coming field trips, any anything else to do with photography.

Look forward to seeing you all at the first meetup in mid Janurary.

Have a great weekend,

Rach

The next Development Group meeting at 7:30 pm on Monday will be on the “Basics of Photographing Birds”.  Gavin Klee will lead the session – and he knows what he’s doing.  The evidence is in images such as this one from the recent Autumn Salon.

Plans are being made for a follow-up field trip on Saturday 6 July to the Manawatu Estuary, Foxton Beach, where you can practice your new skills. Details will be discussed at the Monday meeting. Don’t miss it.

“Shooters” – Waikanae Estuary – 3 pm Sunday 24 June

21 Thursday Jun 2012

Posted by KCPS in Photo Opportunity

We will be holding a “shooters” event at the Waikanae Estuary this Sunday, 24 June. It’s a great place to photograph, and right on our doorstep.

The plan is to meet in the carpark at the end of Tutere Street, Waikanae at 3 pm. We have two hours until sunset around 5 pm. After the light has faded sufficiently we may wish to repair to somewhere for liquid refreshment, but that can be arranged on the day.

Hope to see you there.

Ohakea Air Show Field Trip: Saturday 31 March Further Info

29 Thursday Mar 2012

≈ Comments Off on Ohakea Air Show Field Trip: Saturday 31 March Further Info

You will all have seen Michelle’s comments suggesting an earlier start because of the expected crowds! Hugh will aim to be at the rendez-vouz at 7.30am. We’ll start out as soon as we have a car load. If you know you will be taking your car it would be a good idea to purchase your ticket on line here:

http://www.eventfinder.co.nz/2012/air-force-air-show/sanson

Hugh has purchased one car / family ticket. It will provide entry for 4 people.

This looks like a great photo opportunity for our members – for action shots, details from the static ground displays, and people shots.

Some of us will be car pooling from the small car park on the western side of Marae Lane, Waikanae at 7.30am on the 31st.

Entry Costs: $10 a person or $30 a car.

The RNZAF web site has lots more information.

Any further questions?  Contact Hugh Scott.

Photo Opportunity – Vintage Car Rally

10 Tuesday Jan 2012

Posted by KCPS in Photo Opportunity

Happy New Year all!

The Vintage Car Club of NZ is holding an international car rally in Wanganui next week.  Full details are here.  This is a big event, with some 680 entries.

There are likely to be photo opportunities as cars pass through the Kapiti Coast to and from the event. Steam Incorporated will also be running a steam train excursion to Wanganui on the Open Day – Sunday 22 January – so watch out for the train too.

At least two of our members are planning on driving up to Wanganui for the Open Day on 22 January to see and photograph the rally. If you are interested in going as well and making this into a club event, please contact Alan Thompson on (04) 904 7382.
